ORISSA INDIA

The Juanga hospital in Orissa was built by CITTA, the US non-profit in 1998. Set in a small village in a remote rural district, in what is probably the poorest part of India , the hospital is the only medical facility within a radius of a ten hours walk and represents the only access to medical care for approximately 80 to 100 thousand people.
During the 2001 monsoon floods, an estimated hundred thousand people were killed and over a million homes were washed away. World Response provided medicines to the hospital and sent clothing as part of an emergency relief effort. This year World Response has provided a complete dental suite and x-ray unit to the hospital and is currently facilitating the provision of medical equipment for the operating theatre.

World Response will continue to support the hospital with equipment, medicines and supplies, and wherever possible will provide ancillary support, such as family planning initiatives, women's health training, vitamin supplementation, immunisation programs and funding.
